Leadership and Kids

How old do you have to be to be a leader?

Can a child be a leader?

Lots of kids have the qualities that we look for in a leader.

Are they born with them? Do they learn the skills at home? At school?

Leadership skills can be encouraged and learned. Kids can be exposed to good leadership at home, in their community, in media. The great qualities of leaders can be pointed out to kids, and kids can be shown ways to take leadership, even in small ways.

In our hunt around the net for inspiration for kids we came across a site called Inspire My Kids and they have a good article on kids and leadership.

Here is a part of that article:

Anyone can be a leader and the world definitely needs lots more good leaders!

What is leadership?

It is all around you and shows up in many ways.

Leadership is…

  •   Setting a good examples for others and being a good role model
  •    Stand up for others even when it may be the hard thing to do

Leadership is one of the most important skills you can learn to be the best person you can be and make the world a better place.  The great thing is, you have the opportunity to practice leadership every single day in your home, at school, in sports and everywhere in between.

Good leaders are not bossy and loud.
